The challenge

Moniepoint processes payments for millions of businesses and agents across Nigeria. As transaction volumes grew, the engineering teams were shipping to a mix of virtual machines and early Kubernetes clusters that had been set up by hand, with no consistent path from code to production.

Deployments were slow and risky, environments drifted apart, and the on-call rota depended on a handful of engineers who knew where everything was.

What we did

We designed and built a production platform on Kubernetes with infrastructure as code from the first line, then moved services onto it team by team.

  • Multi-cluster Kubernetes on AWS with Terraform, separate clusters for production and non-production
  • GitOps delivery with Argo CD, image scanning and signed images
  • Golden-path templates so a new service ships with pipelines, dashboards and alerts on day one
  • Prometheus, Grafana and Opsgenie with SLOs agreed per service
  • 24/7 SRE coverage from our engineers alongside Moniepoint's own team

Results

Deployments went from a weekly, engineer-led event to a routine that happens many times a day, with automated rollback. Availability of the core payment services has stayed above 99.99 percent since the migration, and on-call is now a shared, documented process rather than tribal knowledge.

Linestech took over our Kubernetes platform and within three months deployment failures dropped to almost zero. They work like an extension of our own engineering team.
